It is with great pride and excitement that I welcome you to the 2026–27 school year at Pompton Lakes High School. It is an honor to serve as your Principal, and I am grateful for the opportunity to work alongside our dedicated staff, students, families, and community to provide an outstanding educational experience for every student.
Pompton Lakes High School is a school filled with pride, tradition, and a strong sense of community. At the same time, we recognize that education continues to evolve. Our responsibility is to honor the traditions that make PLHS special while continuing to find new and innovative ways to prepare our students for their future.
Our mission is to inspire a passion for learning and develop the essential skills to excel beyond high school—whether in employment, enlistment, or enrollment. We strive to develop not only successful students, but well-rounded individuals who demonstrate strong character, scholarship, service, leadership, and citizenship.
We believe students learn best when they are challenged, supported, and given meaningful opportunities to take ownership of their learning. Through collaboration, communication, creativity, critical thinking, and other essential skills, we want our students to be prepared to navigate an ever-changing world and make a meaningful impact on the communities around them.
Creating this experience is a shared responsibility. Parents and guardians, teachers, support staff, administrators, and community members all play an important role in helping our students discover their strengths, pursue their interests, and reach their greatest potential. Our goal is for every student to feel empowered to succeed.
As we begin another school year, I am excited about what lies ahead for our students and our school community. There are countless opportunities for our Cardinals to learn, lead, compete, create, perform, serve, and grow. I look forward to celebrating their accomplishments and continuing to build upon the tradition of excellence that makes Pompton Lakes High School such a special place.
Most importantly, I look forward to writing “our” story together throughout the school year. I encourage you to follow along through our social media channels and share the accomplishments, milestones, and moments that make our school community special. If you have a student or family accomplishment, event, or newsworthy item you would like us to celebrate, please send me your pictures, videos, and a brief description at swisniewski@plps.org.
Here’s to another great year at PLHS!
